What is Cost + 10%?

We occasionally get inquiries about our pricing, which is a cost plus system. It is advertised as such both in our weekly sales ad as well as posted on signage at the store. We make no apologies about regularly offering our customers low prices and if you check the ads each week, you will see that we are consistently able to beat (even with our cost plus method) other grocery stores’ pricing. As general background, I am sure you are aware that all retail businesses have a variety of cost that is inherit in the operation and maintenance of that business and that those cost are passed along to the consumer.

Our philosophy is to use our multi-store buying power to obtain, when possible, a lower price for us and then to pass that lower cost onto our customer. We rely on our customers to be satisfied with our very low prices (which include the cost plus that is taken at the register) and to return regularly so that even though we have smaller mark-up rates than other businesses, we are able to stay competitive because of our volume – or rather – because our customers return time and again to take advantage of the great products and low prices we offer.We did not invent this pricing method as it has been around for a long time and many other retailers utilize it. However, we have found that it works for our small business operation and based on the number of satisfied repeat customers we have, we believe it works for our customers as well. Coupon Policy

Piggly Wiggly accepts manufacturer coupons that meet the following requirements:

  • Coupons must be original (no photocopies, electronic copies, etc.)

  • Coupons must have scan-able barcode or valid promotion code

  • Coupons must have a printed expiration date and be within such expiration date

  • Coupons can be redeemed only for items sold at Piggly Wiggly and can be redeemed only for the exact same item (package weight, size, etc.)

  • Coupons for free items are only accepted if a purchase is required to get one free

  • Maximum of one (1) coupon per item

  • Requirements must be met for coupons with product or purchase requirement(s) to be accepted

We reserve the right to limit the quantity of coupons that may be redeemed in one shopping visit.

We also reserve the right to refuse any coupon that may appear to be fraudulent.

No cash back will ever be given on a coupon/coupon item(s).

We reserve the right to modify our coupon policy from time to time and/or terminate the program entirely.

Piggly Wiggly will not accept coupons that:

  • Are from other retailers/competitors

  • Are expired

  • Are internet coupons or other electronic copies

  • Contain the combination of an invalid barcode that won’t scan and/or a promotional code that the register will not accept

  • Are for “free” items unless a purchase is required. Generally free item needs to be same or lesser value that the item purchased

  • Do not have a remit to address on the coupon
